“Bibi Azeen, born on 24 Jul 2014. She is the second child I am blessed with. Like every Parent dreams and strives for their child’s health and well being, I too had many dreams for her. I bought many a toys for her to play with. Few days and eventually a year later we realized that our child wasn’t like usual kids. She didn’t had a firm neck holding, she couldn’t even hold a single toy that I got for her with immense love. It was really heart wrenching to see her struck with a kind of disability and that is Cerebral palsy. She couldn’t even make a proper eye movement and contact with me and my wife, no bodily movements and no speech. It is every Parents curiosity and bliss to see their child learning to walk on knees, toddling, falling down and finally walk without any support from us.
But we were highly not lucky enough to witness all these. She never tried to walk on her knees and toddle. The only thing she did was sleep. She wasn’t even capable to sit. She was more likely to be in a state of Coma.
We didn’t give up on her; we strived to seek the best of medical treatment in the country. We consulted doctors in Hinduja Hospital, a multispecialty centre at Mumbai. There were few doctors who treated her there and they had returned from USA. But, it didn’t make any progress in her. Then we approached Bhaktivedanta hospital in Mumbai for physiotherapy treatment, which too didn’t work. We then thought of shifting to Ayurvedic medicine at Kolhapur, this too wasn’t much of any use to us. Then, we consulted different physiotherapy specialists in Vijaypur. All of the above efforts of ours weren’t of any significance and we saw no improvement in her.
Meanwhile, we encountered with VSDESWS through one of my cousin who said about the centre which is for rehabilitating the differently abled children. We consulted the founder and got her admitted to the centre under VSDESWS. Now my child has rapidly improved. She is able to sit confidently and independently, she holds all different varieties of toys that I got for her and plays with them. If we intend to give a handshake to her, she brings her hand forward and gives a handshake. She lifts her hands up to say Salam to us. It’s been only 5 to 6 months that we got her admitted at the centre, I can confidently say that she has 50% improvement in her complete lifestyle. It gives happiness to see her trying to speak a little, like she can utter the sound the dog makes. (Boo Boo she says!). She also says bye to me by waving her hands off.
This has all been possible due to the efforts put by the teachers and therapists at VSDESWS. The physiotherapy treatment is commendably good. They update about all the programs, doctors meet events and etc. through Whatsapp group. Even if she misses the school a single day, they call us and ask what the issue is. Before, she would only allow the touch of me and her mother, but now she mingles with all other Children at the centre. Today, she smiles, she screams, she tries to play, and I’m definitely sure that she’ll be able to walk and eventually run in the near future with all the efforts put by VSDESWS team”.
